I took sewing and design classes, while living in Portland, Oregon. When I moved to Montana, I began to focus exclusively on bags. During this transition time, I spent many hours working alongside my mother in her art studio. She shared with me a box of buttons that had been passed along to her by my great grandmother. I loved the feeling of working with the same materials that my great grandmother once used and crafting a skill passed down throughout the generations. There is truly something magical about a handcrafted item made by a single person from start to finish. At the same time, I began to explore the use of different types of fabrics and fell in love with tweed and waxed canvas. I love the feel and texture of these materials and how they compliment one another. From these inspirations and the time and space to create, I formed buttons and tweed.

About the Fabric
Using quality, durable, and environmentally friendly products is an important part of my work. I strive to create simple yet stylish and modern bags. I take great pride in finding quality materials. Whenever possible, I source materials from US based manufacturers. Each bag is handcrafted by me alone in my home studio in Bozeman, MT. Cotton fabric is all organic, helping to minimize the use of harmful pesticides. Waxed canvas is sourced from a family owned business that has been around since the 1800’s. Wool fabric is either 100% wool or sourced from Pendleton.
