Art Journaling – Imperfection

Art Journaling – Imperfection

As some of you know, my “real” job is as a therapist. So it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that I am taking Brene Brown’s art journaling course. The course is based upon Brene’s book, The Gifts of Imperfection. It’s an online course that lasts for 6 weeks. Each week, we are given an assigned reading from her book, art journaling activities to go along with it, class discussion topics, and a reflection exercise. I wanted to share some photos of my art journaling for the first week. We were asked to make permission slips for the course, to take a picture of ourselves with the saying, “I’m imperfect and I’m enough”, and identify people in our lives that have earned the right to hear our story. So far the hardest part for me is letting go and allowing my creativity to come without judgment. I am working on stepping out of my creative comfort zone of sewing and remembering that that was not always a comfort zone for me!
