After moving from Portland, OR to Bozeman, MT, I realized how amazing Portland is at recycling. The recycling/garbage service includes recycling for glass, paper products, plastics, and metals. It also includes a compost bin. When I moved to Montana, I was surprised by the lack of recycling. As a result, I’ve started to think more and more about the waste that occurs. As I sew often, it became obvious to me that I throw out a lot of scrap material. So I started saving the selvedge of the fabrics I use in my bags. In designing my product tags, I’ve taken the selvedge and attached it to the end of my tags. I love the look of the frayed edges and I like that I am taking a step toward minimizing waste. Every little bit helps!!
